For me best Italian food I have had in Glasgow
First time eating here and food was excellent, definitely the best Italian food I have had in Glasgow only had starter and main on pre-theatre menu. I will definitely return here in the future, to try other dishes and not just on a deal. Only downside was mistaken with the bill, other wise staff were very friendly.

The menu at Sannio offers up a range of classic dishes, including starters such as minestrone soup, calamari fritti and bruschetta with mushrooms & dolcelatte cheese.
From the pasta section you can tuck into crowd-pleasers like penne pollo with white wine & cream; mushroom linguini or spaghetti carbonara, while the pizza list offers up choices such as Parma Ham with shaved parmesan & rocket; spicy Italian sausage with tomato & red onion; and vegetariana with roast Mediterranean vegetables. If creamy risotto is more your thing then take your pick from mushroom, chicken or seafood.
Highlights of the mains include sea bass with vegetables, fennel and mash, or a creamy tuscan chicken. A range of premium fillet steaks are also available and served with chunky chips, peppercorn sauce, mushroom and onion.

Sannio is on Elmbank Street in the city centre, just around the corner from the Mitchell Library. Given its closeness to the King’s Theatre, it is an ideal spot for a quick pre-theatre Italian before heading to a show. The GFT cinema is also nearby, while the Theatre Royal on Hope Street is a brisk 10-minute walk away. The nearest train station is Charing Cross.
