The 5pm menu is really good and can recommend the sea bass and lamb chops. The sangria is delicious! So too are the churros 😋

Northern Spanish restaurant in Yorkhill
Opened in the summer of 2016, Elena’s Spanish Bar & Restaurant serves Cantabrian food on Old Dumbarton Road. With its tiled walls and toro mural, it has the ambience of an authentic Spanish bodega. The outside seating and the Estrella Galicia Cerveza on tap underline the feeling that this could be a bar in Santander rather than Kelvingrove. As you might expect, the carefully selected wine list flies the flag for Spain’s sherries, wine and cava.
Cantabrian cuisine
Elena Xavier delivers a taste of Cantabria, her home region, in this light and airy restaurant. Popular dishes include the Galician style octopus, the calamari with onion rings and the chorizo in cider. Meat lovers can tuck into grilled lamb cutlets, meatballs and the chuletón de ternera añojo – a T bone steak from a yearling. Diners can also share a paella. Choose between the seafood, veggie and mixed paella.
Larger than tapas, the portions in Elena’s Spanish Bar & Restaurant are more akin to Spanish raciones. Staff suggest that customers initially order a couple of dishes between two and take it from there.
Local attractions and transport links
Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, the Kelvin Hall and Byres road are all within a five minute walk of Elena’s Spanish Bar and Restaurant. The SECC and Hydro are a brisk fifteen to twenty minute walk. The nearest subway is at Kelvinhall. There is on-street parking available in the area.
