    Kyloe Klass!

We had a lovely meal at Kyloes, service was lovely and we were located by a window with a nice view. My daughter loves the place and she recommended we give it a try. We were not disappointed and for sure we'll be back.

Gourmet steak restaurant in the city centre

Located on the first floor of the Rutland Hotel, Kyloe launched in 2011 with the aim of being ‘Edinburgh’s first gourmet steak restaurant’. Competition has increased greatly since then but Kyloe has moved smartly with the times. As well as a focus on the best Scottish sourcing, guests can expect a quirky decor that blends cask barrel lighting, spacious booths, cowhide chairs, hanging foliage and an extensive range of cattle portraits. Stunning views of Princes Street and Edinburgh Castle add to the eye candy.

Finest Scottish produce

Kyloe is an old Scots word for cattle and the kitchen specialises in cooking several cuts, including several sharing options, of dry-aged Scotch beef. The Sunday roast is always popular. Pride of place goes to the beautiful, award-winning, grass-fed beef produced by Hardiesmill Place Farm in the Borders. The Taste of Hardiesmill platter combines fillet, sirloin and bavette cuts.

Steak aside, the menus include cured meats from East Coast Charcuterie, Scrabster langoustines, Loch Etive mussels, Belhaven smoked salmon, Borders lamb and a Highland Wagyu burger. Small producers, high welfare and Scottish provenance are the threads running throughout the menus. Naturally, there are always vegetarian options.

City centre transport links and attractions

Kyloe is on Rutland Street, a short stroll from Edinburgh Castle, the theatre district and the shops of the West End and George Street. Paid parking can be found nearby at the NCP on Edinburgh Castle Terrace. If you are arriving by train, the restaurant is around a fifteen minute walk from Waverley station or Haymarket.
