    Excellent food, but small portions

The early deal is very good value and the food is excellent although portion sizes a bit small.

    Fantastic

Great food, lovely setting and ambience, but the best thing was the knowledgeable friendly staff, especially Barbara. We will definitely be back

City centre brasserie and Champagne lounge

Located in the heart of Edinburgh’s Theatreland and the city’s financial district, Dine is a handsome restaurant, cocktail bar and Champagne lounge. The dining room is a striking circular atrium with moody slate features and eel-skin wall paper. It is a dramatic space. Not least because of the tree in the middle of the dining room. A versatile venue, Dine lends itself to business lunches, after work drinks and romantic dinners.

Modern British menus and local sourcing

The kitchen brigade at Dine has a Michelin star pedigree and it shows in the quality and presentation of the dishes. Local, seasonal and sustainable produce is to the fore and used cleverly. The menus change regularly but typical main courses might be the North Atlantic halibut with creamed leeks, smoked pancetta and salsa verde or the braised Borders ox cheek with roast marrow bone, potato purée, glazed shallots and wild garlic. There is also a grill menu featuring dry aged steaks.

The express lunch and pre-theatre menus are handy when time is short. By contrast, the Sunday brunch menu encourages diners to linger.

Financial district transport and attractions

Dine is on the first floor of Saltire Court on Cambridge Street. The restaurant is a two minute walk from the Traverse, Lyceum and Usher Hall. Numerous bus stops run from nearby Lothian Road and the tram is a five minute walk. Haymarket and Waverly stations are a fifteen minute walk. There is limited on-street parking and pay parking at Castle Terrace.
