    Defo go back!

We always order take away from the restaurant so it was lovely to actually sit in. Food was delicious as always and the service was really quick!

Malaysian restaurant in East Kilbride

Based in East Kilbride’s dining hub of The Village, Mata Hari serves up Malaysian and Asian fusion cuisine. Sleek furnishings, vibrant colours and stylish mood lighting all create a fresh and intimate vibe. The Head Chef hails from Malaysia and has combined the best elements of his country’s cuisine with flavours from Thailand and Indonesia. This would make a great pre-theatre or date night destination.

Malaysian and Asian fusion dishes

Aiming to fill diners with ‘the warmth of Malaysia’s sunshine and its people’, Mata Hari’s unique menu offers plenty of choice.

As well as classics such as Malaysian curry and satay skewers, the chef also crafts traditional favourites rarely sampled in the West. These include santa lemak, a coconut-based seafood dish with fragrant galangal, and nasi ayam beriani, a spicy chicken fried rice with crispy onions and coriander.

Hot clay pots are also available with both beef and seafood options, as well as fish dishes such as sea bass wrapped in a banana leaf for a fresh, aromatic flavour.

Alternatively, you could opt for Thai and Chinese favourites like red curry, roast duck in plum sauce or chow mein noodles.
